Somehow, I am not all that surprised that the Fedral Government spends time and money infiltrating Unions. Members of government are sponsered by business afterall.
Though I support the Dems, it is only because they are the better of two evils. The challenge of removing corporate influence from our political process seems overwhelming sometimes. But it is goal worth attaining.
The bottom line is, we need more good people to participate in Union leadership. While it is not currently a glamorous goal, an effective Union leader would be valuable beyond words.
The current liberal approach needs to undertake an approach that is effective before trying to exist on ideals alone. That is, in simple terms, consilidating influence in order to make those ideals a reality.
The liberals not in need of a Union need to start participating in the organizations that supposedly represent their ideals. Liberals with influence need to concentrate their efforts in the organizations that will most benefit the cause. This will somewhat prevent political plants, somewhat.
Beyond anything, liberals (a wide term concerning all of the different represenatations found here and elsewhere) need to find common ground in order to focus their efforts. Key battles need to be won before other fronts are opened.
My greatest concern right now is the lack of a unified cause amongst those who really care about what kind of society we are living in. While unifying may not adress all of the concerns that everyone has, some kind of battle plan has to be put together so that there is at least a start. Some situations may have to wait for others to be solved, but a unified front has far more potential. And if that unification was effective, there is no reason why all of the concerns could not eventually be addressed.
Let's define and focus on the big problems, conquer them and then roll over the smaller ones.
